What’s in a picture?

I got into photography as a hobby, but it grew into something more. Not just my client list—my understanding of what photography means to me grew too.

One of the hardest things about being a mom of four (there are many!) is that my kids are growing older, and I can't stop it. Trying to hold onto their seasons is like trying to hold back the ocean tide. It's not possible. Not only that, but my job as a mom is to help them grow—to help the people I love need me less. I can feel it happening every day, and as much as I want to freeze time, I can't.

Photographs can almost do that. The right pictures capture and preserve life as it really happened, so we can look back and appreciate the gifts we had.

So no matter what you're hiring me for—capturing the baby in the nursery, a family session, or a wedding—I understand that what you're experiencing in that moment is the gift of life. It deserves attention. It deserves to be cherished. It deserves to be remembered. I want to help you do that.

What’s in a logo?

One of my ongoing struggles as a mom is the anxiety that comes with it: Will they be okay? Am I a good mom? Have I ruined them? You get it.

God has used the last few years to reveal those deeply rooted anxieties, and he has used his Word to bring precious promises and healing. In Matthew 6, Jesus promises that the Father cares more about his people than the birds of the air or the flowers of the field. My husband drew the floral bouquet logo for me—each flower corresponding to the birth months of our kids. It's a reminder that the Lord cares about them and for them more than I do, and so I don't have to be in control. Instead, I can enjoy them as a gift.

That's the peace behind the logo—and it's why I chose the bouquet to represent my work, too. Whatever I'm photographing for someone is their gift—be it their new spouse or child or season of life. A photograph captures a snapshot of God's goodness to them at that time. I love helping people look back and enjoy the gift life is, and all the little gifts found in it.

True To Life Photography

Pictures should be true or authentic, telling the story of what really happened. Real colors, people, emotions, and places.

Pictures should be about life, helping you remember your most significant days, joys, fears, milestones, and the people you shared them with.
